Medalla de plata para el Benjamín de la FNQ Espanyol
El equipo de Benjamines perteneciente a la nueva Penya del RCD Espanyol en Cairns (FNQ Espanyol) obtuvo el pasado fin de semana la medalla de plata en un torneo de fútbol sala denominado “FNQ Futsal Titles”.
Esta medalla fue el premio conseguido al llegar a la final del torneo tras haber ganado 3 de los 4 partidos correspondientes a la fase de clasificación y tras ganar la semifinal previa. El equipo perdió la final por 5 goles a 4 luchando hasta el último segundo. El torneo fue disputado durante el fin de semana en la parte más norteña del continente oceánico.
FNQ Espanyol, que ha sido fundado en octubre del presente año, pretende establecer raíces entre nuestro Club y la comunidad de Cairns, empezando por los chicos que militan en el equipo, los padres y organizadores de las competiciones deportivas.
El equipo también está disputando una liga de fútbol sala que terminará en marzo del 2017 y en la que actualmente van segundos. Se puede seguir el progreso de nuestros periquitos australianos en el Facebook de la Penya.

Last weekend the U-8 team part of the newly formed RCD Espanyol Supporters Club in Cairns (FNQ Espanyol) attained the silver medal in a local Futsal tournamemt called “FNQ Futsal Titles”
This medal was the reward for qualifying for the final after winning 3 of the 4 group stage matches, plus winning the semi-final. FNQ Espanyol lost the final 5-4, fighting until the very last second. The tournament was played last weekend in Redlynch, a suburb of the northernmost city of the Australian continent.
The aim of FNQ Espanyol, officially established during the month of October 2016, is to establish connections between the Club and the community of Cairns, starting with the players, their parents and the organisers of football tournaments.
The team is also taking part in a Futsal league which ends in March 2017 and are currently in second place. The progress of our Australian periquitos can be followed on the FNQ Espanyol Facebook page.
